MEDITERRANEAN NORDIC

A NEUTRAL AND MINIMALIST APARTMENT IN STOCKHOLM

Via Claesson Koivisto Rune.

After a few weeks of rest, Mediterranean Nordic is back. For a good start I have brought you a wonderful inspirirng and very Nordic project. It is the "Apartament with brass cube", work of the Swedish architectural studio Claesson Koivisto Rune. Located in the city of Stockholm, the design of this 1800 restored apartment draws from  a base of neutrals on floorings, ceilings and walls. By using a range of beige tones instead of pure white, brightness and warmth are provided to the same extent, resulting in a cozy and relaxed atmosphere.

Furniture is minimal and very suitable. Every piece has its own space and importance, and lives together with the rest. The sculptural fireplace seems awesome to me; and the kitchen islands in different materials, a sure winner. I personally love kitchens where everyting is hidden, a way of designing that always reminds me of John Pawson's work, a master in creating extremely smart minimal furniture.

The apartment has his vintage-traditional touches too: in the bathroom, where Portuguese tiles and Moroccan tadelakt flank a cylindrical design bathtub; and in the dinning room, where Thonet chairs surround a big main table in solid wood. An apparently simple project, but full of details which make of diamond in the rough a well-polished jewel.
